I cant win.....

Ive been playing through missions just fine. A little difficulty here and there. The bosses arent easy, but with a game like this, I dont expect easy bosses. However.....theres a mission where you have to fight this giant.....tentacle monster thing. I cant beat it. My complaint isnt the difficulty though.....its that you cant go back to previous missions to level up more. You get experience from doing the mission I mentioned above, but its so little that it takes forever to level up.
